The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pleased to call for your participation in the ‘6th AWP Global Youth Essay and Art Contest’.

Since its launch in 2019, the ‘International Conference on Action with Women and Peace’ has been a vital platform for amplifying women’s voices in the field of international peace and security. As a side event of the 6th conference, the Global Youth Essay and Art contest has been organized to promote awareness among youth about the agenda of ‘Women, Peace and Security.’

 A. Essay

• Theme: How to promote Women’s role in building Peace&Security
• Format: A short essay of no more than 1000 words(Korean or English)

※ The Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda focuses on expanding the role of women as key actors in conflict prevention and peacebuilding, as well as strengthening the protection of women in conflict situations. Notably, United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) was the first to address the WPS agenda, with its primary objectives being the ❝elimination of violence against women in conflict zones❞ and the ❝increased participation of women in conflict resolution processes❞. As we approach the 25th anniversary of the adoption of Resolution 1325 in October 2025, we seek to explore ways to further develop and advance the WPS agenda.

B. Artwork

• Choose one of three topics under the overarching theme of “Women, Peace and Security” : △The role of Women in Peace-building △The 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 △UN Peacekeeping Operations
• Format: A hand drawing or computer-generated graphic art

[Eligibility]

This contest is open to contestants aged 19 to 34 (individual or group)

• Multiple submissions will be accepted per contestant(but only one entry will win).
• Each group may consist of a maximum of two people.

[Awards]

Grand Prize (one contestant), First Place Prize (one contestant), and Second Place

Prize (two contestants) (total cash prize of 7 million won)

• Grand Prize: Minister of Foreign Affairs Award and a cash prize of 1.5 million won
• First Place Prize: Minister of Foreign Affairs Award and a cash prize of 1 million won
• Second Place Prize: Minister of Foreign Affairs Award and cash prize of 500,000 won

※ Grand Prize Winner must attend the award ceremony, and round-trip airfare and two nights accommodation will be provided for those residing abroad.
