About the competition:
In the spirit of fostering cross-cultural understanding, creativity, and artistic expression, the European Union in Laos proposes the EU-ASEAN Drawing Competition, under the theme of “How do I see the EU-ASEAN”, designed to engage and inspire high school students across ASEAN countries. This competition seeks to provide a unique platform for the youth to articulate their perspectives on the European Union (EU) within the context of the ASEAN region.
This initiative emphasises the importance of artistic expression as a means to strengthen mutual understanding, foster creativity, and build lasting connections between ASEAN and the EU.
Timeline:
- Open call: 30 April -
29 May 202415 June 2024 - Announcement of top 5 of each country and open for popular vote: 3 June 2024
- Final Event in Vientiane (Announcement of top 3 and popular vote): 14 June 2024
- Exhibition in Vientiane: 14 June - 24 June, 2024
Competition Rules:
Eligibility:
- The competition is open to high school students in ASEAN countries between 12 to 18 years old and citizens of one of the 10 EU Member States in ASEAN (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam), and Timor-Leste.
- One person is allowed to submit a maximum of 3 drawings.
- Only individual entry is accepted. Collaboration or group of artist are not eligible.
Guidelines:
- The drawing should be based on the theme “How do I see the EU-ASEAN” to foster a thoughtful exploitation of the intersections between European and ASEAN cultures.
- The drawing must be in landscape or portrait format fitting on a minimum of A4 size (210 mm x 297 mm).
- The submission of the drawing should be digital (scanned version is allowed) with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (minimum).
- Submission is free and participants could submit more than one artwork (maximum three).
- The artwork (s) must be original and not previously submitted to other competitions, exhibited, or sold. We may request proof of original ownership; failure to comply will result in disqualification.
- Participants must ensure their content does not infringe on any copyright.
- The content must not violate the intellectual property rights of third parties, and participants should provide proof of open-free sources or written approval from the original creator.
- The content submissions must not contain inappropriate, offensive, discriminatory, sexual, or unlawful materials. Disqualifications will apply to inappropriate content.
Submission Requirements:
- Artwork must be submitted via the online with google form.
- File types accepted: jpg. png. pdf. If their artwork is selected as the winner, participants should be prepared to submit the original file in a higher resolution.
- Entry must include a copy of a valid ID, completed “Entry Form” & “Release and Waiver Form”.
- Any entries that do not follow the above-described rules will be disqualified.
